New Delhi: Weeks after the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced postponing the Class 10 and 12 board examinations to March 9, the board has now revised the exam dates of few subjects for both the classes.

According to the new timetable, dates of Tamil (006), Gurung (132) and National Cadet Cops (076) in Class 10 and Theatre studies (078), Tangkhul (193), Physical Education (048), Sociology (039) and Food Service-II (736) in Class 12 have been altered.

The CBSE had rescheduled the board exam dates by nine days due to upcoming Assembly elections in five states- Punjab, Goa, Manipur, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.

The Class 10 board exams will now be held from March 9 to April 10 and the Class 12 exam will begin on March 9 and continue till April 29.

The move comes after CBSE received complaints from students and their parents that there was no sufficient gap in the dates of Biology paper and Joint Entrance Examination 2017. However, the board has kept the schedule for Biology exam unchanged.

While the Tamil language paper has been postponed by eight days, from March 10 to March 18, the Gurung language has been switched to March 10 from March 23. NCC exam has also been delayed by eight days and it will be held on March 23 instead of March 15.

Similarly, the date of Physical Education paper has been changed from April 10 to April 12 and of Sociology exam from April 12 to April 20.

The new date of Theatre Studies paper and Tangkhul language exam is advanced from April 20 to April 10, while Food Service paper, which was scheduled for April 29, will now take place on April 26.

This year, 16,67,573 candidates have applied for the Class 10 exam as compared to 14,91,371 students last year. Whereas a total of 10,98,420 candidates have applied for the Class 12 exam this time as against 10,65,179 last year.
