Burglars break into DU prof house, rob Rs 15,000

New Delhi: While the police claims to have increased patrolling across the city and deputed dedicated teams to keep petty criminals at bay, the burglars continue to break into houses and decamp with booty.

A gang of thieves managed to sneak into the house of a Delhi University professor and decamped with cash Rs 15,000. The incident took place on Tuesday night under Vasant Vihar police station limits. The police said that the complainant, identified as Sunil Kumar Meena, hails from Rajasthan and is a professor in Delhi University. Professor Meena who has been teaching in Maharaja Agrasen College is also pursuing his research in Jawahar Lal Nehru University and lives with his wife in Munirka.

Professor Meena has stated in his complaint that a gang of three unidentified men managed to sneak into his house while his wife and he were fast asleep. On hearing commotion, Professor Meena woke up to find burglars inside his house. When he questioned the gang about their entry, the gang members allegedly assaulted him and made away with cash Rs 15,000.

The police was informed, who visited the spot and carried out the probe. Soon, the patrolling police was alerted, who on suspicion apprehended one person in this connect and are questioning him.

A case has been registered in Vasant Vihar police station in this regard.
