e-POS distribution of ration suspended
However, the FPS owners will have to maintain the stock register as earlier, the circular added.
New Delhi: The Delhi government on Friday temporarily suspended distribution of ration through e-PoS (electronic point of sale) system with immediate effect.
The department of food supplies and consumer affairs has issued a circular, asking fair price shops (FPS) owners that distribution of ration will be made manually to the ration-card holder as earlier.
Deputy chief minister Sisodia had recently said that the government had found “open theft” in delivery of ration and demanded suspension of e-PoS system under which beneficiaries were given ration after biometric identification.
The circular stated that details of the card holder i.e, ration card number, name of beneficiary and mobile number will be generated in the sales register. The FPS owner will take signature or thumb impression of the beneficiaries
The circular also stated the FPS owner will have to issue receipt to the beneficiary, and name of commodity and quantity issued, rate and amount should be mentioned on the receipt. However, the FPS owners will have to maintain the stock register as earlier, the circular added.
Earlier this week, food and civil supplies minister Imran Hussain had accused food commissioner Mohanjeet Singh of “disobeying” the lieutenant-governor’s order and issuing direction for continuation of e-POS system.
L-G Anil Baijal on April 16 had directed for suspending e-POS system upon finding several irregularities, but the new food commissioner has issued an order for continuing the same, Mr Hussain had alleged.
