New Delhi: Yet another incident of crime against wo-men has come to light in the national capital. A Canadian wom-an was found in an unconscious state near AIIMS on Tuesday night.
The woman said that a man, identified as Abhishek whom she befriended two days ago, had raped her and left her at the spot. The police has arrested the accused and produced him before the magistrate on Wednesday. The woman told the police that she had met Abhishek at a pub in Hauz Khas village. The Canadian woman said that she went to the residence of the accused after she was invited. She alleged that the accused later sexually assaulted her at his residence.
She informed of the rape to the police after reaching AIIMS and later filed a written complaint, an police officer said.
The rape case comes a day after a Thomson Reuters’ survey wher-ein India was shopwn as the “world’s most unsafe country for women” due increasi-ng threat of sexual violence. Quoting official data, the survey pointed towards 83 per cent rise in crime cases against women between 2007 to 2016.
