Propaganda warfare may return to TV screens ahead of elections

New Delhi: The political propaganda warfare may finally return to television screens ahead of Delhi Assembly polls scheduled for early next year. An Indian Broadcasting Foundation panel has allowed television channels to air the Arvind Kejriwal Government campaigns at their own risk despite the payments of advertisements aired by Delhi government ahead of Lok Sabha polls still not being cleared.
The IBF Credit & Collections Committee has recommended that “members may exercise discretion whether or not to accept the future business from Delhi Government in their own best interests.”
Sources stated that due to non-clearance of dues by Delhi Government for their past advertising campaigns, the IBF Credit & Collections Committee had suspended their activities.
Television is one of the major advertisement and outreach mechanisms for any political party during campaigning for elections and the forthcoming Delhi Assembly polls aren’t expected to be any different.
The battle for the 70 member Delhi Assembly is mainly being fought between the incumbent Arvind Kejriwal headed AAP government and the BJP which desperately wants to wrest control from it.
