New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta on Monday alleged that the AAP government is making deliberate, planned and sustained efforts to influence and derail the judicial process in the high-profile case of assault on chief secretary Anshu Prakash against chief minister, deputy chief minister and 11 MLAs.

Mr Gupta said that home minister Satyender Jain is making all out effort to weaken the case of alleged misbehaviour and assault. According to Mr Gupta, with malafide intentions to influence the justice, Mr Jain refused to grant permission for engagement of special public prosecutors and directed the home department that no one else except the assistant public prosecutor/public prosecutor attached with concerned court of ACMM should appear in the case.

“Smacks of the government’s mischievous conspiracy to ensure that the case is lost by the prosecution i.e. the Delhi police by weakening its case in the court. It is strange that the government which hired battery of advocates charging lakhs of rupees per appearance such as P. Chidambrum, Ram Jethmalani, Indira Jai Singh, Rebecca Mammen John, Colin Gonsalves in less important cases, is now insisting on engaging assistant public prosecutor/public prosecutor att-ached with concerned court,” said Mr Gupta.

He questioned how a routine public prosecutor will argue against his own government and bosses. This is a clear cut case of denial of justice and fair play. It is essential to appoint senior public prosecutors who can handle the case without fear or favour.

The leader of Oppos-ition demanded the intervention of L-G Anil Baijal to ensure that the ends of justice are met by appointing three special public prosecutors as requested by Delhi police and the home department keeping in view the importance of high profile case.

Mr Gupta demanded the intervention of Lieute-nant Governor Anil Baijal to ensure that the ends of justice are met by appointing three special public prosecutors as requested by Delhi police and the home department keeping in view the importance of high profile case.
