New Delhi: Leader of the Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta on Monday said that the income-tax notice is a scathing and unequivocal indictment of Aam Aadmi Party’s corrupt practices hidden behind the façade of honesty and transparency.

Mr Gupta claimed that the Aam Admi Party (AAP) is shamelessly defending itself by calling it a vendetta. The I-T department has slapped Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP with a tax notice of Rs 30.67 crore for hiding crores in donation from the public as well as the Election Commission.

“The party, which claims to be the champion of ethics in politics, has once again been caught indulging in questionable conduct. During the elections, the AAP leaders shouted from the rooftops about transparency in the party pertaining to political funding. However, the latest revelation coming from the I-T department shows the real face of AAP, which is in contradiction to what the party portrays in public,” Mr Gupta added, demanding that Mr Kejriwal must come clean on the undeclared donations.

“It only goes on to prove that the party, which was formed on the promise of rooting out corruption, is itself deep rooted in graft. Slowly every misdemeanour of AAP is unfolding. Soon, the five-year-old party will crumble under its own weight of lies and deceit,” he said.
