Three people, including a woman, were arrested for allegedly stabbing to death a man for resisting a robbery bid in West Delhi, police said on Sunday.

New Delhi: A 22-year-old youth died while another sustained serious injuries after the duo was stabbed by an unidentified youth in northeast Delhi’s Bhajanpura area on Wednesday night.

According to the police, a police control room call was received at Bhajanpura police station at around 9.05 pm on Wednesday, stating that an unidentified youth in his early twenties had stabbed two persons near Aggarwal Sweets in Khajuri Chowk area.

The police rushed to the spot and found one youth lying unconscious in a pool of blood while the other victim was critically injured.

After reaching the spot, the police found out that a 23-year-old man had stabbed the duo and fled the spot, said DCP (Northeast) Atul Kumar Thakur on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Prem Sanu Gaur (22), a resident of Kadipur in Kadi Vihar, while the injured Dev Sharma (30) is a resident of Bhajanpura. The police said both the victims were known to each other.

Gaur was rushed to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Mr Sharma is undergoing treatment at GTB Hospital, the DCP said. His condition is said to be stable.

Gaur was a student while Mr Sharma used to work as a mechanic in the Kashmere Gate area. A case of murder was registered and an investigation has been launched, Mr Thakur said.

The police is investigating the matter from all the angles, even keeping personal enmity as one of the reasons. The motive behind the incident is unclear. Since the victims had their mobile phones and purses with them, robbery might not be the reason behind the attack, the police added.
