Grandson arrested for murder of 75-year-old

New Delhi: The East division police has arrested the grandson of deceased 75-year-old woman, who was killed at her home in Trilokpuri.

The police also apprehended three others, including a juvenile, in connection with the murder.

The men murdered  the woman on Friday morning and fled with gold and silver ornaments.

According to the police, the prime accused, identified as Deepak, the grandson of the victim, Ameen Amal, was found murdered with stab injuries on her throat.

 The police also arrested his accomplices, Harish, Ram Dayal and the juvenile on Friday night.

Following their arrests, four gold bangles, a goldchain, a pair of earrings and other articles, including silver coins and coins worth approximately '8,000, and some personal documents of the deceased were recovered, said a senior police officer.

The investigation revealed that Deepak knew that his grandmother was allegedly into illicit liquor trade, and had jewellery and money kept at her house. Deepak and the juvenile allegedly slit her throat after the woman raised an alarm, said DCP (East) Omvir Singh. The two then contacted their accomplices, Harish and Ram Dayal, to dispose of the jewellery.
