Two minor sisters injured in LED-making unit fire
The jurisdictional police have taken the case and are probing in this connection.
New Delhi: Two minor sisters sustained sever burns in a fire incident that broke out at an LED-manufacturing unit in northwest Delhi's Jahangirpuri area on Saturday.
According to the police, the two minor sisters identified as Muskaan, 14, and Payal, 12. They sustained 70 and 80 per cent burn injuries respectively. They are undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Preliminary investigations revealed that due to suspected LPG gas leakage the fire went up. According to the fire official, a call to the Delhi Fire Service was made around 9 am and fire-tenders were rushed to the spot. It is learnt that the two sisters who live nearby had gone to give tea to their father who worked as a labour in the holder-manufacturing unit. It is suspected that last night there had been a gas leakage that went allegedly unnoticed by the labours. When in the morning, the two sisters went to give the tea and switched on the light a spark led to the fire.
Heard a loud blast sound, the neighbours were alerted who immediately wen tto the spot and took out the girls. By the time the fire tenders reached the spot, the neighbours had managed to partially douse the fire and shifted girls to neaby hospital, a witness said.
At the time of the incident, the father of the girls was not present inside the unit that has been built in a 25bigha land.
The jurisdictional police have taken the case and are probing in this connection.
