E-rickshaw driver beaten to death
Driver objected to three youth urinating in public place near a Metro Station.
New Delhi: While the Central government is trying to instil civic sense among people with ‘Swachchh Bharat Abhiyan,’ the mottot proved costly for a 32-year-old erickshaw driver when he objected to three men urinating in public.
The incident took place near GTB Nagar Metro Station in North Delhi late on Saturday evening. The deceased, identified as Ravinder, was a resident of Kishore Market.
The police said that the murder took place around 8.30 pm. Probe revealed that an argument ensued between three youth and Ravinder when the latter was parking his E-rickshaw near the road. Ravinder saw the trio urinating in public. He allegedly asked them to use a toilet instead.
However, the sound advise turned awry for Ravinder as the three allegedly walked up to him and threatened him that they will come back for him. Around 8.30 pm, the gang returned, armed with iron knuckles. The gang of around 12 youth caught hold of the 32-year-old man and thrashed him brutally in public view, added the police.
After beating Ravinder, the gang left the spot leaving Ravinder critically injured and in a semi-conscious state.
