288 more fall victim to dengue, total at 945

New Delhi: The city saw a sharp increase in the number of dengue cases reported in the past one week with at least 288 fresh cases of dengue being recorded between August 20 and 26.

This has taken the total number of cases due to the disease to 945, out of which 435 were reported from Delhi residents and the rest are from those who have come to Delhi for treatment from other states.

At least 249 of these cases have been reported in August, as per a civic report released on Monday. While 61 fresh cases of malaria were reported, 28 cases of chikungunya were recorded, taking the total to 473 and 339 respectively.

Over a 1,000 cases of swine flu, resulting in 47 deaths, were reported in  the city, while the health department has submitted a status report to the government saying that it is fully prepared to deal with it.
