Delhi L-G Baijal asked the municipal corporations to consider children as ambassadors of Swachhta.
New Delhi: Union housing and urban affairs minister, Hardeep Puri and Delhi lieutenant- governor Anil Baijal on Friday flagged off 16 mechanical road sweepers and 40 water tankers to enable municipal corporations to intensify their ‘Swachhta’ related activities for making the national capital clean and beautiful.
After flagging off the new vehicles, Mr Puri said that the funds amounting to Rs 300 crore for the vehicles have been provided by his ministry under Swachchh Bharat Mission and the corporations have done sincere efforts to procure longer lasting quality vehicles. Mr Puri complemented the civic bodies and stated that they are doing their best efforts and due to their efforts ‘Swachchta’ has become a people’s movement which was earlier considered as government movement.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Baijal said that Union UD Ministry has become liberal in releasing funds to the corporations after the Prime Minister gave a call to give top most priority to Swachhta.
Mr Baijal asked the municipal corporations to consider children as ambassadors of Swachhta.
“When the children will grow up they will do their sincere efforts to make their country clean as per the dream of Mahatma Gandhi. All of us should make Swachhta an inseparable part of their habit and consider it an integral part of life style,” Mr Anil Baijal added.
