Girl strangled to death, body dumped in bag

New Delhi: While the Delhi police is claiming to beef up security during the festive season, crime in national capital continues unabated. The national capital woke up to several shocking incidents on Sunday.

In the last 24 hours, three cases of murder and one case of attempt to murder have been reported in various parts of Delhi apart from other street crimes.

In the first incident, the dead body of an 8-year-old girl with strangulation marks was found in a trolley bag near the Yamuna Biodiversity Park on Sunday.

The police was informed about the incident at 7.30 am and a team from the Timarpur police station visited the spot. When police opened the unclaimed bag, the body of the minor girl was found, DCP (North) Nupur Prasad said.

The police spotted strangulation marks on the neck of the victim. The body was taken to the Aruna Asaf Ali Hospital.

The police is also scanning through profiles of missing girls and trying to identify the deceased, the DCP said.

It is being suspected that the girl went missing on October 22. The Welcome police station of Northeast district will investigate the matter.

In another incident, a 25-year-old youth was stabbed to death in Northeast Delhi’s Nand Nagari area on Saturday evening.

The deceased was identified as Rahul and it is being suspected that the youth had a criminal background. DCP (Northeast) Atul Thakur said that three persons have been arrested.

In another incident, a youth was shot and his bike was robbed in Southeast Delhi’s Kalkaji flyover area. The victim is currently undergoing treatment and is said to be critical.
