Cops harass veteran duped in ATM fraud

Subsequently, the police registered an FIR at the concerned police station and took up investigation into the matter, the official sources said.

New Delhi: An Army veteran, who was part of the President’s Bodyguards, is running from pillar to post to lodge an FIR for ATM fraud. He alleged that for the last 86 days, the Delhi police has not filed the FIR despite several attempts made by him to get it done.

“Just after the incident of the ATM fraud, my ATM card was blocked on October 3, 2018, by the SBI customer care. The next day, I contacted my SBI branch at Nirman Bhawan, where they advised me to lodge an FIR to initiate the due process,” said Risaldar Major V.S. Chaubey, a resident of Baba Haridas Nagar.  

He was asked to visit one police station after another to get his FIR registered. He alleged that he first went to Dwarka Sector 9 police station and filed a complaint. Later, he contacted the concerned police officials for his FIR. However, he was asked for further clarification and more time to register the FIR.

Few days later, the Dwarka police station SHO said that the matter came under the jurisdiction of Dabri police station. “I visited Dabri police station, where a police official informed me that the matter had been transferred to the Palam police station. I visited the Palam police station, where I was again informed that Dabri police station had erroneously sent the matter to them and that the matter came under the jurisdiction of the latter.”
