Manish Sisodia claims his Twitter handle hacked

New delhi: Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday claimed that his Twitter account was hacked and denied endorsing and retweeting posts against veteran social activist Anna Hazare.

Mr Sisodia reportedly retweeted a few tweets which described the anti-graft crusader as “BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party agent” and “fraud”. It took him a sometime to regain full access to his account on the micro-blogging site.

“Account was hacked. Someone retweeting anti Anna Hazare messages from account. Trying to delete them, not even getting deleted,” he tweeted. “Pls don’t believe them. I have greatest respect for Anna ji. Can never say such things against him. Pls don’t believe them,” another tweet said.

Mr Sisodia had played a major role in the anti-graft campaign that was led by Mr Hazare and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. In late 2012, he and Mr Kejriwal branched out to launch the Aam Aadmi Party. Mr Hazare has since been at odds with the Aam Aadmi Party leadership and frequently railed against him. In fact, he attributed the recent electoral defeats of the Aam Aadmi Party to his former protégé Mr Arvind Kejriwal’s quest for power.

“People gave him a mandate and he got an opportunity to turn Delhi into a model state for the entire country to replicate. But power is bad. Once you sit in the chair, you lose your power of thinking,” Mr Hazare had said, after the Shunglu panel report, that levelled allegations of gross abuse of power by the Delhi government, had surfaced.

The veteran social activist had rejected the Delhi chief minister’s charge regarding EVM (electronic voting machines) rigging and said that in reality the gap between the AAP leaders’ words and deeds eroded public faith in the party.

The Aam Aadmi Party, which swept the Delhi assembly elections in 2015, managed to win a dismal 48 of the total 272 wards in the recently concluded municipal elections in Delhi.
