Rs 81Lakh recovered from 2 Delhi-based fraudsters

After email confirmation of MD seat at Vijayanagar Institute, Bellary, the culprits collected another Rs 36 lakh, again at the airport.

New Delhi: Two Delhi-based fraudsters were arrested by the cyber crime wing of Hyderabad police for allegedly conning a medical aspirant by not providing NRI quota seats after collecting Rs 81 lakh.

Hyderabad police commissioner Anjani Kumar said that the accused have been identified as Santosh Kumar Rai and Manoj Kumar Pathak. They were arrested from Delhi and the police seized several stamps, including those of Supreme Court, PAN cards, debit, credit cards and other material.

The police said the case came to light when Fatima Razvi received an SMS from HPMKTING, AD-MKTNG with a message: “MD/MS/Dear doctor PG 2018 seats, under NRI quota, top pvt/deemed colleges in India/Nepal. More information & guidance-Dr R S Yadav.’’

Ms Razvi contacted the phone number given in the SMS and sought an MD seat for her daughter. The victims were asked to send a DD of Rs 5,000 first in favour of directorate general of health, New Delhi.

Later, they got a communication regarding approval of PG (Medical) seat under central pool quota from a fake email ID (noreply@mohfw.nic.in) of the ministry of health and family welfare. After that, one Dr R.S. Yadav and Singh came to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad to collect the first installment  i.e. Rs 10 lakh.

After email confirmation of MD seat at Vijayanagar Institute, Bellary, the culprits collected another Rs 36 lakh, again at the airport.

Later, she received several emails for complying with various procedures and in March 2018 and she was given an allotment number. Later she discovered that she was cheated of Rs 81 lakh. Police on the basis of technical surveillance arrested the accused, against whom 16 cases were pending in different parts of the country, said the police.
