Delhi: Written test to recruit primary teachers
The exam was conducted by Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) on Sunday.
New Delhi: After a gap of eight years, the Delhi government conducted written examination for the post of primary teachers in the national capital.
The move assumes significance in the wake of AAP government’s special focus on the education sector. The recruitment is likely to reduce shortage of teachers
in government schools. Currently, there are over 9,000 vacancies in government schools in the national capital.
The exam was conducted by Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) on Sunday. Vacancies were advertised in August and September this year.
The secretary of DSSSB, Rajesh Chopra, had earlier said that the exam would be held in 223 centres across Delhi and more than 1 lakh candidates were expected
to appear against 4,366 vacant posts of primary teachers.
The board made extensive preparations for conducting free and fair examination, including deployment of a large number of officials for invigilation duties.
Mr Chopra said that a number of senior officers, including IAS officers, were deployed and each centre was supervised by an IAS officer or senior DANICS
officer in order to curb the menace of impersonation and unfair means.
The secretary further informed that the board had prescribed a strict dress code which was required to be followed by all candidates. Full sleeve dresses, jewellery, closed toe shoes, high heel footwear, watches, pens, electronic equipment including mobiles, etc. were prohibited.
