New Delhi: The newly-opened Janakpuri West to Botanical Garden corridor of the Delhi Metro was used by over two lakh passengers on the first day of its opening on Tuesday.

The section has also reduced the travel time between Noida and Gurgaon by at least 30 minutes.

The Delhi Metro records an average daily ridership of over 29 lakh passengers, which is set soar further with the entire Magenta Line getting operational. This section is also the longest stretch to have been opened so far in the DMRC’s Phase-III project.

With the opening of this section, the total operational span of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) network has reached to 277 km, the officials said. Passenger services on the segment, which has 16 stations — 14 underground, two elevated – began at 6 am on Tuesday from Kalkaji Mandir and Janakpuri West stations simultaneously.
