All Women toilets will be painted pink in North Delhi
The decision to paint women toilet blocks in pink colour was taken as this colour symbolises women.
New Delhi: The North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) has painted 22 women toilets with pink colour in its jurisdiction for the convenience of women. The NDMC also decided to that all women toilets to be developed by it in future will be pink in colour. NDMC mayor Preety Agarwal on Saturday said that 22 women toilet blocks in North Delhi under the jurisdiction of NDMC have been painted with pink colour for convenience of women.
“The decision to paint women toilet blocks in pink colour was taken as this colour symbolises women. Now onwards all women toilets to be developed by the NDMC in future will be pink in colour,” Ms Agarwal added. According to Ms Agarwal, seven toilets in Keshavpuram Zone, one in Karol Bagh Zone, one in Rohini, 10 toilets in City-Sadar Paharganj Zone and three toilets in Narela Zone have been painted pink in colour and their number would increase in future.
“For convenience of women, toilets exclusively for women have been developed by the NDMC specially in market areas. This step would be a mile stone in Swachh Bharat Mission,” she said.
