Delhi: Man stabs wife over suspicion of illicit relationship

Three people, including a woman, were arrested for allegedly stabbing to death a man for resisting a robbery bid in West Delhi, police said on Sunday.

New Delhi: A husband allegedly stabbed his wife multiple times over suspicion of illicit relationship in Northeast Delhi on Saturday.

The 32-year-old woman was identified as Sangeeta, who has received multiple stab wounds in her chest and abdomen at her residence in Sonia Vihar area.

According to information, the 35-year-old husband was identified as Prem Kumar Mahato. The duo had a turbulent marriage as he thought that his wife was in an illicit relationship with someone. On Saturday morning, they had a heated argument and the matter escalated. It made him furious over the alleged extra marital affair and in a fit of rage he stabbed her multiple times. Police received a PCR call on Saturday morning. Subsequently, a team rushed to the spot and found the injured in a pool of blood.

A case has been registered under appropriate sections of IPC and efforts are being made to nab the accused husband, said DCP (Northeast) Atul Kumar Thakur on Sunday. Injured Sangeeta was referred to GTB hospital, where she is undergoing treatment. She is out of danger now.

The accused husband, who works as an executive at a private company, is still at large.
