Neighbour kills Pune woman over cat fight

Pune: A 40-year-old woman Prabha Mohan Ranpise was allegedly bludgeoned to death with sticks and bamboos by her neighbour, Raju Salwe, for questioning him about throwing her cat out from his residence. The deceased used to stay at Mhalunge in the Hinjewadi area of Pune.
The victims’ cat had entered the neighbour’s house and had eaten the food it found there, spilling some of it. Alerted of its presence, Salwe, a daily-wage labourer, got infuriated and threw the cat out of his house.
When the victim confronted him, he beat her to death. The neighbour did not even spare her two sons, Hrishikesh (17) and Ajay (24), and assaulted them as well as her son-in-law, Dadu Khalse, in his fury. The injured brothers were later admitted to a local hospital. Khalse too is being treated for his wounds.
According to the FIR lodged Ajay Ranpise, the son of the deceased woman, “My sister, Sarika’s cat, who stays near our house had entered into her neighbour Raju Salwe’s house at around 8.30 pm on June 2. Salwe threw the cat out saying the cat had spoiled his dinner.
