Gelatin sticks, detonators found near Nashik city

The police is trying to track the owner of the explosives and the motive behind possessing them.

Nashik: The police on the night of Monday seized 60 gelatin sticks and 17 detonators from a sack lying on the road in Monde vasti on Pathardi-Gaulane road near Nashik city. The police is trying to track the owner of the explosives and the motive behind possessing them.  

Indira Nagar police station sources said that an unknown person called the police and informed that a sack containing some explosives had been discovered on Pathardi-Gaulane road near Monde vasti.

On receiving the information, DCP of zone no 2, Shrikrishna Kokate, ACP of unit no 4 Mohan Thakur and other police officers, along with a bomb disposal squad, reached the spot and seized the sack. Inside, the police found 60 gelatin sticks and 17 detonators. ACP Mohan Thakur said further investigation was underway.

Gelatin sticks and detonators are used for blasting stone quarries. Several stone quarries are located in Pathardi, Gaulane,Viloli and Ambebahula villages. The gelatin sticks had “SUPERPOWER 90” printed on them. The material was seized and an offence was registered under section 286 of the IPC.
