Pune: Parents of the two engineering students, who were murdered near Bushi dam in Lonavala a month ago, have sought handover of the murder probe to CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) so that their children get justice. The parents have made the demand in view of the fact that Pune rural police, which is investigating the case, has made no headway so far.

Sarthak Waghchoure and Shruti Dumbare, both fourth-year engineering students of Sinhgad Institute of Technology in Lonavala, were found murdered and in a naked state near INS Shivaji air force station and Bushi dam on April 3.

Pune rural police, which is probing the matter, has till now questioned 600 people, including college staff, students, and friends and relatives of Sarthak and Shruti. The police has gone through over one lakh call records of the area at the time of the incident. However, not a single arrest has been made and the police is nowhere near cracking the case.
