Kalaskar remanded in 10-day CBI custody
Kalaskar allegedly fired bullets at Dr Dabholkar.
Pune: Sharad Kalaskar, one of the accused in the Dr Narendra Dabholkar murder case, has been remanded to CBI custody for 10 days by the Pune CBI court. Kalaskar allegedly fired bullets at Dr Dabholkar.
CBI prosecutor Vijay-kumar Dhakane requested Judge S.A. Sayyed for Kalaskar’s custody, stating that Kalaskar was an expert in the use of weapons and that he had fired two bullets at Dr Dabholkar. Advocate Dhakane said that Kalas-kar also had expertise in making bombs. He requested Judge Sayyed for Kalaskar’s custody so that the latter could be questioned along with the others in CBI custody i.e. Rajesh Bangera and Amit Digvekar
However, defence lawyer Dharmraj Chandel opposed CBI’s demand saying that the agency had been probing the matter since 2014 and had filed the charge sheet in 2016 where Sarang Akolkar and Vinay Pawar were named as shooters. But now, it was claiming that Kalaskar was the shooter.
Judge Sayyed then ordered that Kalaskar be remanded to CBI custody for 10 days. Kalaskar was arrested on August 10 from Nalasopara by the state ATS in connection with the seizure of crude pistols and explosives from the residence of right-wing activist, Vaibhav Raut. Kalaskar was in ATS custody and on Monday, the CBI got his custody from the Mum-bai sessions court.
On Saturday, CBI took custody of Rajesh Ban-gera and Amit Digvekar which the agency got from the Bangalore court on Friday.
