Senior Pune cop arrested for betting
Jadhav handles the additional charge of senior police inspector at Baramati (city), Pune rural police.
Pune: A senior police inspector attached to Pune rural police has been arrested along with 42 others for betting in a raid at a club in the Mundhwa area of Pune. The police also seized cash and articles worth Rs 1 crore. The involvement of Vijay Jadhav, a senior police inspector in the case has sent shockwaves among the police department in Pune.
Mahendra Jagtap, police inspector, crime, Mundhwa, said, "We got a tip off that betting is being done at Poker Coins Club and Rummy Club in the posh area of Mundhwa. We raided the clubs on the third and fourth floor of Kapil Matrix, a commercial centre housing restaurants and pubs, at 1.40 am on Saturday. The entry to these clubs is highly technical and one cannot enter without entering their fingerprint or using a scan card. When we asked to open the door, the security did not, and we had to eventually enter by breaking the door.”
The cops have arrested 43 people who were betting at these clubs that are run by ex-corporator Avinash Jadhav.
Jadhav, was arrested while he was betting in the Rummy Club.

Jagtap said they seized bottles of alcohol, banned gutkha and cigars pockets, machine to count notes, boxes of cards, poker coins of prices Rs 100, Rs 500, Rs 1000, Rs 5000 and Rs 25,000.
“We have also recovered cash worth Rs seven lakh, four four-wheelers and two wheelers and TV set and all of this is worth over Rs one crore,” said Mr Jagtap.
