Man loses life in mishap on expressway

The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Musilam Mohamad Aslam Khan (26), who hails from Uttar Pradesh.

Pune: A driver of a tempo died in an accident on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway early on Tuesday near Urse toll plaza as his vehicle rammed into a truck. The driver died on the spot.

The deceased is identified as Mohammed Musilam Mohamad Aslam Khan (26), who hails from Uttar Pradesh. Sachin Shinde, police sub-inspector, Khandala, Pune rural police, said, “Mohammed was driving the tempo Eicher Tempo MH43 3110 towards Mumbai. The tempo was transporting parcels to Vashi.”

He added, “He either lost control over wheels or may be could not gauge the curve of the road at the Kivale bridge near Urse toll due at the start of Mumbai-Pune Expressway and hit the truck KA 56-3299. The accident was horrible and he died on the spot. We shifted him to the government hospital in Khandala as soon as we reached the spot. However doctors declared him brought dead.”

Despite several measures being taken by highway police, the number of accidents on the expressway are not going down.
