The police is on the lookout for four more persons involved who are now absconding.
Pune: Three persons have been arrested by Pune police for allegedly gang-raping a 21-year-old girl from Mumbai. The victim was in Pune to spend her summer vacations with her grandparents at their home.
The police is on the lookout for four more persons involved who are now absconding.
According to the FIR, the girl was befriended by a group of young men in a park where she used to go for evening walks.
One day, one of the youths took her out for a party in a car and rendered her unconscious by offering her a spiked drink.
Thereafter, he, along with six other members of the group, raped her multiple times. The gang-rape occurred during the victim’s stay in Pune during March and April this year. The group threatened to kill the girl’s grandmother and uncles if she told anyone about it. After returning to her Neral home at the beginning of May, the girl started falling sick every now and then, compelling her family to take her to the doctor. When her mother confronted her if there was a problem, the girl narrated the incident. The family on May 25 lodged a FIR with Neral police, which in turn informed Pune police. The police on Friday arrested three of the accused. Four others are missing and police is searching for them. The police has invoked sections 376 (rape), 323 (causing hurt), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
