Pune: Students at Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) accused its administration of sending letters to their parents complaining about them not attending classes instead of talking to them first. They have also accused that FTII has watered down the syllabus, removing important assignment of making dialogue exercise film.
Students of 2016-17 batch have been boycotting classes since the last week of August demanding basic things. They had asked the administration about availing them classroom detailed syllabus and enrichment programmes for the ongoing third semester in advance and camera, len-ses, studio, light metre and proper classroom wit-h projection system to have workshop, discussions and theory classes.
One of the students said that they had 14 demands, but administration appro-ved only three demands, which forced them to continue the strike.
Recently 90 per cent students’ parents received letters by FTII about their kids’ absence and if they don’t match the required attendance mark, they will have to repeat the semester.
