The passengers had come on a train from Hyderabad and got off at Latur railway station. A tempo was parked along the roadside at Kolapapatij village on the Latur-Nanded highway. The driver of the SUV thought that the tempo was moving and hence, did not reduce the speed of his vehicle which ended up hitting the tempo. To avoid ramming into the tempo, the cruiser driver tried to take a turn but hit another SUV coming from the opposite direction. All seven passengers in the car died on the spot.”
“Our team reached the spot immediately when we received a call about the accident having occurred. All injured were immediately shifted to the government hospital. However, seven passengers in the first SUV died on the spot. The remaining thirteen are out of danger but under treatment. The postmortem report of all seven deceased confirmed that they died of multiple injuries,” he said.
As of now, the police is taking statements of those injured. Once the investigation is completed, a FIR will be lodged. An accidental death complaint has been lodged.
