WB: Man lives with decomposed body of mother
On Wednesday morning, the man was found sitting alone at the windowsill when the mediapersons went there.
Kolkata: In what appeared to be a rerun of Robinson Street case, a middle-aged man with psychological disorder was found living with the decomposed body of his aged mother for the last six days at their home in Paikpara of North Kolkata. Late on Tuesday night, neighbours of Anirban Basu found a pungent smell emanating from his flat at a government housing complex.
None of the neighbours, however, had seen his mother Meera Basu, a widow, for almost the past one week. One of them alerted the police. Cops from the Tala police station rushed to the spot. When the cops reached the house, Anirban was at home and opened the door. Upon inspection of the flat, the cops found his mother’s decomposed body lying in one corner of a room. The body was recovered and it was sent for a post-mortem at R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital.
The cops suspect that Meera died at least a week ago. They got some clue after detaining and questioning Anirban. Anirban, who earlier worked as a photographer, claimed that he was not aware of his mother’s death, said a police officer. He was sent home later.
On Wednesday morning, the man was found sitting alone at the windowsill when the mediapersons went there.
His neighbours alleged that the police left him locked in his flat well past midnight. Anirban was later rescued.
In June of 2015, Partha De was found living with decomposed body of his sister, Debjani De, and the charred body of their father, Arabindo De, at their palatial residence on Robinson Street.
