Kolkata: Two more fake doctors were arrested in the city. One was arrested on Friday evening while the other was held on Saturday night.

Shubhendu Bhattacharya was arrested by the police at Bantra, Howrah. Ajay Tiwari was arrested on Saturday evening in the city.

Bhattacharya had used the registration number of a doctor Ayan Ghosh, who lodged a complaint against him with the police. Tiwari is a resident of Karl Marx Sarani in Babubazar where he ran Sri Ganesh Doctor’s chamber, said DIG(CID) Nishat Pervez adding that the accused was attached to Kothari hospital.

On Friday night, Bhattacharya was caught from Kadamtala and was booked under four charges including cheating, fraud and forgery. Bhattacharya also claimed to have the membership of royal colleges of physicians (MRCP) to pull the patients.

He used a writing pad in which MRCP was printed among other qualifications below his name, the police said, adding that he also managed to get his name registered in an international records chronicle.

The police found that Bhattacharya is the grand-son of former education minister Kanailal Bhattacharya and nephew of former Left Front MLA Jagannath Bhattacharya.
