Kolkata: The Met department on Friday warned of isolated heavy rainfall for the next two days till Sunday in Gangetic West Bengal. Isolated heavy rainfall is likely to occur in the districts of Gangetic West Bengal till Sunday, while in the sub-Himalayan districts similar weather is likely to prevail till today, the Met department said.

The metropolis, which experienced heavy downpour last afternoon leading to waterlogging of some arterial roads like Chittaranjan Avenue and Camac Street, recorded 50 mm rainfall in 24 hours till 8.30 a.m on Friday. The city experienced light showers in the afternoon, which did not have much impact on traffic movement.

Sriniketan in Birbhum district received the state’s highest rainfall in the said period, recording 56 mm precipitation, it said. Some other places in the state received light rainfall, including Areas like Diamond Harbour (15.2 mm) and Jalpaiguri (12 mm), the weatherman stated.
