Sanjoy Mukherjee is new CID chief
IPS officer Sanjoy Mukherjee was earlier posted as the director (security) of the West Bengal police in rank of the additional general of police.
Kolkata: Senior IPS officer Sanjoy Mukherjee has been appointed by the Mamata Banerjee government as the criminal investigation department (CID) chief. He has replaced Rajesh Kumar.
Mr Mukherjee who is an IPS officer of 1989 batch of West Bengal cadre was earlier posted as the director (security) of the West Bengal police in rank of the additional director general of police (ADG).
Dr. Kumar, also an ADG rank officer of 1990 batch, has been shunted to the West Bengal Pollution Control Board. Their reshuffle was in the list of eight officers who faced transfer on Saturday.
After Dr. Kumar, another officer Sib Shankar Dutta, who was the inspector general (I-G) (II) was moved out of the state detective agency. He has been appointed as I-G(O) in the state police. Ashok Kumar Prasad who was the I-G (Personnel) has replaced him.
Among others, Sunil Kumar Choudhary who was special superintendent of police (coordination), has been promoted to joint commissioner of police at Siliguri police commissionerate.
Parul Kush Jain who was the commanding officer (3rd battalion) of the state armed police has been promoted to deputy inspector general (personnel). Santosh Pandey, DC (Headquarters), Bidh-annagar police commissionerate, will take charge as SSP (Coordination) in South 24 Parganas district.
