Ghosh challenges CM to retain power in state

Kolkata: Countering the Trinamul supremo Mamata Banerjee’s warning, state BJP president Dilip Ghosh on Monday challenged her to retain her power in the state.

He said, “After the BJP’s victory in Tripura, she fears that now it is the time for Bengal. That is why her party leaders gave a slogan: Age 2019 Samla, Tarpor Dekhbi Bangla (First tackle 2019 and then eye Bengal). We however do not have the habit of making tall talks.”

He added, “So I have kept it small: Ebar Bangla, Parle Samla (Now it is Bengal, Tackle it if you can). The chief minister addressed a rally in Purulia where she referred Delhi and Mumbai. But the audience was full of school students. She slammed Delhi at a function which was organised at the expense of government revenue. Let her fight us in the Panchayat Elections if she has the guts.”

Replying to Ms Banerjee’s allegations on the BJP of triggering communal tension Mr Ghosh affirmed that the government and the court have the power to punish if any party worker of found guilty of any such offence. “There is no communal tension in the entire country. The poisonous air of communalism is found only here.”

At the Assembly premises Mr Ghosh distributed lozenges among the MLAs. He said, “Many asked me why only lozenges. I told them Tripura is a small states having two MPs and 60 MLAs. How much can we spend for it? The way BJP has started winning one after another, we have to distribute sweets every month. I told them they will be treated with Malpoa if the BJP wins Bengal.”
