Kolkata: Chief minister Mamata Banerjee will visit New Delhi this weekend to attend Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina’s tour during which several agreements will be signed between the two countries.

Her decision came after external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj invited her to attend Ms Hasina’s tour. Ms Swaraj added that she praised Ms Banerjee’s personal intervention and her government’s assistance in bilateral relations between the two countries.

She will reach the capital on April 7. She will attend a lunch hosted by PM Narendra Modi in honour of his Bangladeshi counterpart the next day. She will also be present at the dinner hosted by President Pranab Mukherjee for Ms Hasina. Ms Banerjee had last shared the dias with Mr Modi and Ms Hasina in Dhaka in June 2015, when a land boundary agreement was signed between India and Bangladesh.
