BJP Yuva Morcha alleges threat by Trinamul
He said one such preparatory meeting in Howrah district was held after seeking permission from the court.
Kolkata: BJP Yuva Morcha on Monday accused the ruling TMC leadership in various districts of intimidating party workers during preparatory meetings for BJP national president Amit Shah’s rally here on August 11.
BJP Yuva Morcha state president Debjit Sarkar alleged that he has been receiving reports for last few days that TMC workers and the police administration have been threatening BJP activists of dire consequences if they participate in Shah’s rally.
“We have been organising small preparatory meetings in various districts of the state ahead of Amit Shah’s rally. But either we are stopped from organizing those meetings or are not given permission to hold them,” Sarkar said.
He said one such preparatory meeting in Howrah district was held after seeking permission from the court.
The TMC, however, denied the allegations. The police last week granted permission for BJP president Shah’s proposed rally here on August 11. BJP sources said Shah is scheduled to arrive in Kolkata on the evening of August 10 and would address a programme of BJP Yuva Morcha next day at Mayo Road.
