Roy's induction to BJP an earthquake in state politics'
Mr Roy is a star of Bengal politics. There is no doubt about his political acumen, experience and qualification.
Kolkata: Taking pot-shots at the Trinamul Congress over its past alliance with the BJP, state BJP president Dilip Ghosh on Monday described Mukul Roy as the architect of the ties between the two parties. According to him, Mr Roy’s induction to the BJP is an “earthquake” in the state politics.
“It is a matter of great joy. We were feeling tremors of an earthquake which happened in the politics of West Bengal. Mr Roy is a star of Bengal politics. There is no doubt about his political acumen, experience and qualification. He had to quit the party he had built and ensured its victory,” Mr Ghosh said sitting next to Mr Roy. The Kharagpur MLA added, “He survived in the party but with a lot of pain till he could. He joined the BJP to breathe fresh air under the sky. I congratulate and welcome him for coming out of a small pond to the sea. We had been waiting for his arrival for a long time. Finally he came to us.”
He elaborated, “The relation between the BJP and Mr Roy is nothing new. Since the day the understanding came into being between the BJP and Trinamul, he worked as its architect. He himself stated it. So this home may be new to him but not the party. His induction ushered jubilation among our party workers.” Mr Ghosh explained, “The politics of Bengal has taken a major turn. We are witness to it.”
