Kolkata: Man's body found on Bagnan rail tracks

Pradip Dhara (38) was found dead on the down railway track nearly 30 ft away from platform no 2 of the Bagnan station at around 12.30 am.

Kolkata: The mutilated body an accountant working at a steel company was found near the railway tracks in Bagnan of Howrah post Saturday midnight.

Pradip Dhara (38) was found dead on the down railway track nearly 30 ft away from platform no 2 of the Bagnan station at around 12.30 am. The government railway police (GRP) personnel who recovered the body suspect that Dhara committed suicide by jumping in front of a speeding train. They came to know to his identity from his ID card in his trousers. But the family of the deceased claimed foul play and lodged a complaint with the GRP.

Dhara was posted at the company’s office in Raipur of Chhattisgarh and stayed there with his wife and child. He recently came to his native place at Bangalpur in Bagnan. On Saturday evening, Dhara was scheduled to catch a train from Howrah station at night to return to Raipur. Carrying luggage, he left the house and went to the Bagnan station where he bought a ticket at around 6.20 pm to reach Howrah.

One of his relatives said that Dhara had called him up and said he was travelling in a train crossing Bauria to reach Howrah. After mid-night when the body was found, two among the three mobile phones Dhara was carrying could not be traced except the train tickets. His luggage was also missing. The body was sent for post-mortem.
