Kolkata: BJP leader Mukul Roy on Sunday predicted that the fall of the Trinamul Congress would start from the panchayat elections. He later met West Bengal state election commissioner Amarendra Kumar Singh at his office to demand free and fair polls after alleging that 320 block development offices and 62 sub-division offices in the state have been in the control of the Trinamul backed miscreants.
“The panchayat polls is the beginning of the end of the Trinamul. People of the state are protesting against the ruling party. Trinamul’s Anubrata Mondal claims of the presence of outsiders. But are the people with him from the moon? If they are from the district they why did they keep their faces covered?” Mr Roy asked at a party meeting in Nadia. Mr Roy alleged, “The observers of the state election commission are the servants of the Mamata Banerjee government. They have lost the minimum condition of being on the job. In a tweet, I have said that the DG, ADG (law and order) and all the superintendents of police should remove their badges: Satyameva Jayate from their shoulder.”
