Akansha Sharma had plans to leave Bhopal serial killer
The victim had a train journey scheduled for July 12 and had made desperate attempts to flee Bhopal to escape' Udayan Das.
Bankura: Akansha Sharma was murdered because she had learnt the truth about Udayan Das, his live-in partner accused of strangulating her and then entombing her body in July last year.
Bankura police discovered she had desperately tried to flee Bhopal and had even purchased a train ticket for July 12, 2016.
Police believe Udayan had discovered her plans to get away from him. Police reports say she was murdered two days before the scheduled journey.
The police learnt about Akansha’s plans while going through bank records of her SBI account, opened in Patna. The ticket from Bhopal to Howrah was purchased from IRCTC’s website. A team of officers will again travel to Bhopal to question Udayan’s maternal uncles, sources said.
Meanwhile, during his interrogation, Udayan told police that besides her relation with a youth in Jaipur, Akansha had made contact with another person from Mumbai. He was questioned by the interrogators, led by district superintendent Sukhendu Heera, for around six hours. An officer said the accused was unfazed and confident in his response.
He admitted to having withdrawn Rs 80,000 from Akansha’s bank account using her ATM card in August, September and October. After demonetisation in November, he withdrew Rs 1200. He also said that he had sold her jewellery worth Rs 70,000.
He also stands accused of killing and then burying his parents at their home in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Udayan himself had told the police about killing his parents and had guided officers during the exhumation of bodies.
