Kolkata: Another fake doctor was arrested by the police from Baruipur in South 24 Parganas on Thursday night. The accused, Mohammed Ijaz Ahmed, is a resident of Sonarpur and was attached to a private nursinghome in Phooltola. He used to claim himself as an MBBS pass-out who was a general physician experienced in child healthcare. The fraud came to light when an NGO member visited him on the pretext of being a patient following a tip-off.

Raju Ghosh, president of Human Protection Awareness Organisation, alleged that Ahmed gave him a prescription of medicines after listening to his ailment.

“But when I asked him to show his registration number he tried to hide it. He showed me the writing pad of the nursinghome he was attached to. This confirmed our information about him being a fake doctor,” he claimed.

Mr Ghosh later informed the police. Interrogating Ahmed the cops learnt that he started practising as a physician soon after passing higher secondary examination.
