Kolkata: Two motorcycle borne youth were killed in a road accident on Haldiram flyover near Kolkata airport in the small hours of Saturday.

One of the victims, Rajesh Kanoria, was a civic police volunteer who was posted as the traffic guard of the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International police station.

Another killed was his friend, Krishna Hari.

At around 3.45 am, two motorbikes were coming from Chinar Park to Kaikhali through Haldiram Flyover. Both were racing with each other at high speed. While Rajesh and Krishna were travelling in one, three others were in another. None of the men wore helmets. Rajesh’s two-wheeler however lost control and dashed against the road divider.

Both were flung of their seats. Their motorcycle was found lying at a distance of around 100 ft from the spot.

Deputy commissioner of police (detective department) of the Bidhannagar city police K. Sabari Rajkumar said that Krishna died at the spot.
