Kolkata: Suspended Trinamul Congress Rajya Sabha MP Kunal Ghosh, who is also an accused in the multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam, faced questioning for over 12 hours by the CBI on Tuesday. The interrogation, which continued till midnight, coincided the interrogation of another Trinamul Member of Parliament (MP) Sudip Bandyopadhyay by the same agency in connection with the Rose Valley chit fund scam in Bhubaneshwar.

According to sources, Mr Ghosh, when he was lodged in the judicial custody, alleged many influential leaders on their role in the chit fund scam in his letters to the CBI and the court also. The special investigation team of the CBI summoned him to the CGO Complex in Salt Lake to record his statement. Around 12.15pm on Tuesday, Mr Ghosh, who has been out on bail, reached the CBI office. While leaving around midnight, he, however, did not disclose the details of the interrogation.

“The CBI is probing some issues. As a law abiding citizen, I only offered my best cooperation. But I would not make any comment about the probe or what I was asked about. I am a member, supporter and a soldier of the Trinamul. So I will not take any question about it also,” Mr Ghosh said.

He elaborated, “Although the TMC unleashed political vendetta against me, I will neither show such an attitude nor take any such step that will speak about my revenge. I replied as much as I could suitably to questions that are generally related to any investigation by the CBI.”
