Student kidnapped by ex-lover rescued

KOLKATA: A college student was rescued by the police on Sunday morning around 13 hours after she was allegedly kidnapped at gunpoint by his ex-lover and his two brothers at Sonarpur of South 24 Parganas.
The third-year student of Ashutosh College in south Kolkata stays at Bhowmik Park. She had an affair with a local youth Prasun Rang for eight years.
Howver, she stopped meeting him recently after Prasun proposed to marry her, according to sources. He even told her that he made arrangements at a Kali Temple, but the girl refused as Prasun got involved in criminal activities, sources added. Since then Prasun was waiting to take a revenge.
The student also works part time at a mobile shop to help her family. She was returning home on Saturday night from the shop near Kamrabad Rail Gate. Prasun and his two brothers, Raju and Deepak, blocked her way at Mandirtala at around 9.30 pm. Holding the driver at gunpoint, they abducted her. The trio dragged her into a white SUV which was standing nearby.
The student’s mother alleged, “My daughter stopped affair with Prasun, but he did not accept it. He recently visited our house and threatened to eliminate my daughter and us. He was involved in the abduction.”
Acting on the family’s complaint, the police launched a search.
The mobile numbers of the victim and the main accused Prasun were tracked.
At around 10.30 am, the student was rescued by the police from an under-construction house at Tematha. Raju and Deepak have been detained by the police. Prasun is absconding. The police are now looking for him and recorded the victim’s statement.
