Dilip Ghosh accuses TMC of revenge politics

Kolkata: State BJP president Dilip Ghosh said on Monday that the people of Purulia wanted justice into the deaths of three party workers in the Jangalmahal district which has seen significant rise in BJP’s votebank in the panchayat elections. Accompanied by Joy Banerjee he also met the family members of the three deceased during the day ahead of BJP president Amit Shah’s two-day visit to the state later this month.

The three victims were Jagannath Tudu at Amtar village, Trilochon Mahato at Supurdih village and Dulal Kumar at Dava village in Balarampur. They were killed by the ruling Trinamul Congress, according to the BJP.

“I visited three villages where three of our workers have been killed. What I found there is that the people want justice. We are fighting for them,” the Kharagpur MLA said.

Asked whether the BJP would show resistance he elaborated, “India is a democratic country. So everything should happen in a democratic process. But the people in this district love peace and want to live in peace. They do not like fight without any reason. Elections here would have been peaceful also. But neither we nor the villagers imagined the panchayat elections would have been bloody here.”

Mr Ghosh claimed, “The people became stunned at the three killings. But they have woken up with protests. A movement have been underway. I think this will usher a change in the politics in the state.”

Accusing the Trinamul Congress of adopting politics of revenge he alleged, “They failed to tackle us politically. So they chose the path of revenge.” The state BJP president added, “They even entrusted the police which also failed. That is why a conspiracy is underway to eliminate our active workers to make the district opposition-less. Violence has no place in democracy. We are fighting to protect democracy. We are also prepared for any battle to protect democracy.”
