Zomato delivery staff go on strike

On Sunday a group of food delivery staff of the app-based network in Howrah decided to go on strike from Monday.

Zomato is encouraging its customers to change their account password, if used for any other services, to avoid risks.

Kolkata: Waking up to a group of food delivery staff's indefinite strike in Howrah over religious sentiments, online food delivery network: Zomato informed on Monday that it is impossible to cater to veg and non-veg choice in food delivery. It however assured that it was trying to solve the problem.

Zomato stated, “In a country as diverse as India, it is impossible to ensure that vegetarian and non-vegetarian preferences are factored into delivery logistics. Delivery partners are unequivocally made to understand the practical nature of the job as they choose to enter the workforce.”

It added, “All our partners understand this fully. There is a small group of partners in Howrah who have raised concerns and we are looking to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.” On Sunday a group of food delivery staff of the app-based network in Howrah decided to go on strike from Monday.

Objecting to delivering beef or pork during the celebrations, including Eid al-Adha, they have also refused to deliver the food which is against their religious beliefs.
