3 get death for killing 3 of a family

Kolkata: The Barasat court on Monday awarded death sentence to three persons for murdering three members of a family at Kemia Khamarpara area in Madhyamgram  in April 2012.

Additional district judge of Barasat court Daman Prasad Biswas had convicted the prime accused Provash Dhali and two others Sujit Dhali and Samir Mondal on December 9.

Another person Gautam Dhali who was arrested in connection with the case is absconding while another Manindra Adhikari had committed suicide while the trial in the case was going on. The police had attributed dispute over land behind the triple murder. According to police sources, Provash and his associates barged into the residence of Binoy Biswas on April 10,2012 carrying firearms and pumped a bullet at him. When his sexagenarian father Amrit Biswas and mother Kakoli Biswas came running in hearing the sound of bullets, the miscreants fired at both of them. Following this, the three were hacked to ensure death.

Binoy’s wife Shiuli Biswas was also shot at her right hand but she somehow managed to escape with his elder son Biswajit. The younger one Abhijit hid himself under a bed inside the room and had a lucky escape as Provash and his associates did not find him.

Provash, “wanted in as many as 16 cases”, was arrested in October 2012 from Jalpaiguri. and was out on bail a few months later when he committed the murder.
