West Bengal CM Mamata promises govt job for si's father

As the news of Amitabha's death reached his home in the morning, relatives and neighbours thronged there.

Kolkata: Chief minister Mamata Banerjee called up slain police Amitabha Malik’s father Soumen Malik at Madhyamgram in North 24 Parganas on Friday afternoon and offered her condolences to him. She has assured government job to him and his daughter-in-law. 

State education minister Partha Chatterjee said at Nabanna, “The chief minister has expressed her condolences to the bereaved family members of the slain sub inspector (SI) of the West Bengal police. It is a very painful incident. The police will do the needful according to the rules for the slain SI’s wife.”

He elaborated, “As the cop’s father is not very old and his age is within the scope of getting a government job, it has been decided that he would be 
provided a job at the school department. 

The SI’s wife will be given a job in the police as well. An amount of '5 lakh as an assistance will be given to the cop’s family from the chief minister’s fund although money is not everything.”

Mr Chatterjee accompanied by another minister Jyotipriyo Mullick and state director general of police Surajit Kar Purakayastha will go to the Kolkata Airport on Saturday to receive the SI’s body. ]

They are also expected to visit the police officer;s house at Patuli Shibtala. Amitabha was scheduled to come home on leave on October 16. As the news of Amitabha’s death reached his home in the morning, relatives and neighbours thronged there.

Many of them recalled him as a polite man who joined the state police in 2015 with a moto to serve the nation after passing out from the Burdwan University although he fared well in the joint entrance examination.
