CID summons Ritabrata Banerjee again
The parliamentarian however did not get in touch with the state detective agency later to intimate if he would need time to face questioning.
Kolkata: Rajya Sabha MP Ritabrata Banerjee has been summoned for questioning by the criminal investigation department (CID) for the second time over the complaint against him of sexual assault by a female techie from Balurghat in South Dinajpur recently alleging that he had a physical relationship with him on the false promise of marriage.
Mr Banerjee was expelled from the CPI(M) for anti-party activities last month. He has been asked this time to appear at the Bhawani Bhavan, the CID headquarters, on October 17. Mr Banerjee was earlier called for questioning on Friday but he skipped the summons. The CID officers pasted the summons on the door of Mr Banerjee’s residence in Garfa since he was not present at home when they went to serve it to him.
The parliamentarian however did not get in touch with the state detective agency later to intimate if he would need time to face questioning. He has been booked in another case of rape by the police in New Delhi as the victim claimed that the alleged crime took place at Mr Banerjee’s flat on South Avenue. Mr Banerjee also lodged a complaint against her at the Garfa police station accusing her of extortion under threat.
